Pickard recognized by state

Renee Pickard, who is a Talent Specialist for Michigan Works! West Central in Ludington, was awarded a “Shining Star” Award by the Michigan Works! Association for her efforts to meet employment needs in Lake, Mason, Mecosta, Newaygo, Oceana and Osceola counties. Pickard received the award during the association’s annual conference on Sept. 15.

Pickard is a tremendous asset to the workforce development system both locally and across county lines.

“Renee is always willing to go above and beyond what is asked of her to ensure her clients are successful,” said Ryan Hundt, chief executive officer of the Michigan Works! Association. “Her fellow talent specialists at Michigan Works! West Central regularly seek out her advice and expertise regarding case management. She embodies many of the values Michigan Works! West Central operates under and is a great example of humility to all of those around her.”

Pickard has a reputation for going above and beyond to assist her clients, treating each one with care and respect.

“Working as a Talent Specialist is more than just a job to Renee,” said Shelly Keene, executive director of Michigan Works! West Central. “She comes in early, and I have lost count of the many times she stays at work long after the day has ended. She does this because she is passionate about helping her clients. She has a heart of gold and cares deeply about her coworkers and the community.”

Pickard is honored to receive this award.

“I am so honored to have been nominated for this award by my coworkers. I truly enjoy working for Michigan Works! West Central,” Pickard said. “I love making a difference in people’s lives every day. Without the tools and knowledge that Michigan Works! West Central provides us as an organization, it would be impossible to make this difference in so many lives. I’m so blessed to have such great co-workers! Thank you to Michigan Works Association for making this possible.”
