GOING PRO TALENT FUND (FORMERLY STTF)

The Going PRO Talent Fund is a grant to help cover the costs for trades profession training. This fund used to be provided through annual appropriation bills, but new legislation codified this program into the state, allowing MI companies the ability to receive the funding they need for talent, productivity and employee retention without having to reapply every year.

Since its inception, the program has greatly benefited smaller companies, as more than half of the funds have gone to companies with fewer than 100 employees and about 38 percent have been directed to organizations with 500 or less on staff. Michigan Works! West Central has been very involved in these efforts by securing more than $2 million for more than 50 companies across our six-county region. That has directly resulted in more than 2,000 workers and funding for 57 USDOL registered apprenticeships.
