There is a huge need for reliable and affordable childcare across Michigan, and our six-county region is no exception. At Michigan Works! West Central, we recognize this need and are partnering with local childcare providers to make it easier for individuals to obtain base-level training credentials to start a career in childcare through USDOL registered apprenticeship!

Do you know all the benefits of a USDOL registered apprenticeship? For starters, an apprenticeship is a job! While you complete your on-the-job and in-classroom training, you’re getting paid! Also, when you complete your apprenticeship, your journeyworker’s credential is transferable anywhere in the United States! 

Our team diligently worked with local childcare providers, education providers and other community partners to outline the requirements for an Early Childhood Education apprenticeship program. The video on the left highlights their efforts.
